Red cedar is used for the creation of many items. It is chosen for its amazing properties, appearance and texture. Cedar popularity as a building material 200 years or more dates along the northwest coast and many hundreds more by Native Americans. As a matter of fact, the properties of this legendary tree versatility carried the first Americans to revere the western red cedar as it became a central part of their lives. Early craftsman carved storage containers and masks from heartwood of the tree and bark woven into mats, baskets and rope. The remains of clothing remains water repellent today.
The wood of western red cedar is aromatic, light, soft, straight grain, not particularly strong but very resistant to decay. The caries resistance is due to the fungicides powerful in the wood of fallen trees … Cedar remains strong for the A100 and older. When finished, red cedar has a rich texture combined with warm tones and soft. The grain is very tactile, and tones ranging from light amber to dark brown honey. Its natural brightness can not be duplicated by any man-made material, which makes it very unique cedar. Today Red Cedar is used for greenhouses, coatings, tiles, fences, because it is an incredibly durable construction material.
Red cedar has a wonderful fragrance distinctive, and is typically very nice. This only serves to add another dimension the universal appeal of this popular wood. However, another reason given to Cedar carved cedar signs.
The cedar is often used naturally however, most scientists promote wood finishing treatment.
